My Big Plans

Let me recap the journey I am seeking! I am beginning a business, Anderson-Belle Enterprises. I am finding myself in the business world, as a friend told me, "there is no road map to Entrepreneurship". My ideas will change but at the end there will be products! Anderson-Belle Enterprises will consist of three entities: Nutrition Assessment & Consultation, Nutritional Drinks (Enhanced Water, Liquid Meals and Vitamin Drinks), and the grand finale is the Anderson-Belle Health and Wellness Center. Enhanced water is for the active people of the world or sedentary people. The goal is to have a no calorie drink as an option for diabetics. Being physically active is vital when a person has diabetes (diabetes management). Liquid meals for the active person who does not want to eat a balanced meal after physical activity. Vitamin Drinks are for those who forget to take their vitamins and don't like taking pills, the drink makes it more simplistic. The Center will encompass all the entities, but this portion will require more research. I dream big, but my dreams will become reality!

So tell a friend and follow me @Sincerely_BET on twitter and join the #getmoving movement!

#getmoving

Saturday I worked out in an intense cycling class. Afterwards I did some ab workouts: crunches and ab scissors. I just so happen to see a billboard that captured my attention: Active Fitness. It reiterated the important factor of water being the best choice for hydration after physical activity; which is very key on my journey of getting my enhanced water manufactured and sold in grocery stores near you! If your on twitter participate in the #getmoving movement! All the nutrition and fitness ties into the building of my brand. Try to understand the big picture.

Some pointers from the billboard:

Drink adequate fluids before and after exercise; water is the best choice!
Eat breakfast- break your fast, with good options such as whole grain cereals or bread, low fat or non-fat milk, juice, bananas or other fresh fruits.

Eat at least 3-4 hours before exercise to fuel your body with energy to undergo activity
Within 2 hours of exercise eat carbs and protein to restore glycogen stores and help muscles recover.

Surprised that the billboard mentioned that "milk is taking on commercial sports drinks as an alternative recovery beverage". Milk offers electrolytes and minerals lost during exercise through sweat and lactose (carb).

This brings me to a good point- what if you are a person who does not like to eat a meal after exercise. Well ah ha! I plan to come up with liquid meals. Eat your meal while on the go and you don't have to plan a meal. Simple!

Good morning world,

I've been contemplating what kind of extracts and flavors I should use for my enhanced water product. If you have any suggestion please leave your comments. And remember it must be healthy. What would you like to drink? What is your best flavor? I asked my hair stylist fri if she worked out. She responded yes. I then asked so what do you drink when you are working out? She told me coconut water or just water. I was immediately intrigued by the coconut water and how it made her feel. She likes coconut water for all it offers. "It offers more electrolytes than a sports drink and as much as 1 banana worth of potassium"she responded. What else does coconut water offer I wondered?

From my research Zico Coconut Water proves my hair stylist right. Coconut water offers five electrolytes and 569mg of potassium. Which is equal to 1 banana and 15 sports drinks. There coconut water is a source of calcium. Im thinkin an enhanced eater, must have a coconut flavor!

Gatorade research

For my Nutrition class it just so happened that I studied the benefits of sports drinks and if they are worth the cost. We were give Gatorade as an example. From my readings I gather that water is the best source to replenish lost fluids during exercise if you are not exercising longer than 3 hours. For long lasting endurance sports or exercise, sports drinks would be more beneficial. During physical activity electrolytes are lost and people think to drink sports drinks to replenish them. Well you can drink water during and after activity but make certain you eat a balanced diet to put back the electrolytes that were lost.

So I will have to revamp the idea of creating a sports drink but rather an enhanced water like the Propel Zero that I tested out yesterday. Not only do I want a healthy drink but yet beneficial too! Editing in force so stay tuned. Signing out.

Efficacy of Propel Zero

Today I went to the the gym and figured why not test the efficacy of Propel Zero, manufactured by Gatorade. A sugar less, low sodium and zero calorie drink for rehydration. Despite the awful taste outside of activity, it actually quenched my thirst during and after aerobic and resistance exercises. I didn't even notice the awful taste while exercising! So this could be a potential product that I use to build my own sports drink around, a potential comparison. Check out the footage.

Ingredient research

Gatorade does not use Fruit juice. What is fruit juice and what is the effect on a sports drink? Is honey or agave nectar a good sugar substitute? How useful would it be to include ginger or aloe in the sports drink? Sobe Life Water uses extracts of ginger and dandelion. I have noticed that high fructose corn syrup is not used in Gatorade but sucrose and flavoring/ coloring is used. But Powerade uses high fructose corn syrup and splenda. So im getting an idea of what I will include in my sports drink.

Today I did a cardio workout and actually tried Gatorade G2 low calorie Blueberry Pomegranate for rehydration. This may be bias but I wasnt impressed with the low calorie Gatorade! Was it the decreased grams of sugar in comparison to a regular Gatorade. The search continues for answers! Did it a actually hydrate me?

The Taste Test

I have always been an avid drinker of Gatorade since I was playing AAU basketball as a child into my high school career. I loved the way it taste and I loved it for the reason as it is, a thirst quencher. But, move over Gatorade and Powerade its time to share the stage! So I have been tasting the competition and Gatorade and Powerade seem to have the most flavor. Why is that I ask? Could it be the use of table sugar, sucrose or stevia? Vitamin Water is also a delicious choice. Now thats a great idea incorporate, electrolytes, vitamins and minerals without the use if tablesugar. So I will make my own product for test testing and tweek ingredients.

Well, Gatorade in comparison to Sobe Life Water, Gatorade Low Calorie and Propel, I must say it has the best test and actually makes me want to drink it outside of moderate activity, and I do. The other brands may have little to no calories but the taste is awful. Stay tuned!
